Pluto Is A Planet!
Since August 24 of 2006, this former 9th planet out from our sun has been reclassified to Dwarf Planet Status. This website will explain why it should be reinstated back. The final section of this website will show that this world has characteristics that proved to be the same as the other objects that are classified as planets.
This background photo was taken from the New Horizons Spacecraft back in 2015. On the day of its discovery in 1930, little was known about this world. In 1997, after discovering objects beyond the orbit of this distant world, astronomers at the International Astronomical Union (IAU) even questioned the status of Pluto. At that time, astronomers from the IAU made the decision for this small body in the outer solar system to remain a planet.
Each link will have valuable information on this mysterious world. The site begins with the history of the definition of the word "planet" and continues to describe the history of Pluto and how it was discovered. It continues to detail the current statistics regarding this dark lonely world, the proposed and approved space missions to Pluto. The IAU decision to reclassify Pluto (which not all astronomers agree with), and the reasons why Pluto should be classified as a planet again.
Once you have finished reading this website, the webmaster's hopes and intentions are that you, the reader, will believe that Pluto should remain a planet in our solar system. Enjoy the website and feel free to contact the webmaster for any additional suggestions and comments.
